No neighbor should go hungry - especially now.

The Grocery Buddy program pairs White Mountain families in need with community donors who can help provide groceries during the current SNAP/EBT shutdown.

White Mountain Helping Hands created the Grocery Buddy Program to support local families who rely on SNAP/EBT benefits. If your benefits are delayed or frozen, we can help. Donors can give funds, sponsor a family directly, or pay for Walmart and Safeway pickup orders. Recipients may request a food box or submit a grocery list. Delivery is available based on volunteers and resources.

Recipients Request Groceries

If you normally receive SNAP/EBT and your benefits are delayed, we can help. Assistance includes a food box, a grocery list, or help with a Walmart or Safeway pickup order. You may request assistance once per week.

Need Grocery Assistance?

You may request help once per week, and all information is kept private and confidential.

Ways We Can Help

We know every family’s needs are different, so we offer several options:

Food Box:
A pre-packed selection of groceries (milk, eggs, bread, fruit, vegetables, pantry staples). Delivered or available for pickup.

Submit a Grocery List:
Tell us exactly what you need. We will do our best to honor brands, dietary restrictions, and cultural needs.

Buddy Shopping (Optional):
If you prefer to shop in person, we can match you with a volunteer who will meet you at Walmart or Safeway and pay at checkout. This is based on volunteer availability and always done in public.

Donor Information

Support a Local Family in Need

During the government shutdown, many families who rely on SNAP/EBT benefits are facing delayed or frozen payments. Grocery Buddy helps bridge that gap by pairing generous local supporters with households who need groceries right now.

Whether you donate funds, sponsor a family, give a gift card, or help with pickup orders, 100% of your donation goes directly to food—never to overhead or administrative costs.

Ways to Give

You can choose how you want to make a difference:

Make a Donation of Any Amount
Your contribution is used to purchase groceries, food boxes, or pay for Walmart/Safeway pickup orders for verified SNAP households. Every dollar matters.

Sponsor a Family for One Week

  • $25 – Groceries for an individual

  • $50 – Small family

  • $75 – Family with children

  • $100+ – Larger household
You may sponsor anonymously or have your first name shared.

Donate Walmart or Safeway Gift Cards
Gift cards are used only for food items and baby formula—never for alcohol, tobacco, or non-food purchases. Volunteers use them for food boxes or Buddy Shopping.

Become a Grocery Buddy
Some donors prefer to help in-person — by delivering groceries, picking up orders, shopping for food boxes, or Buddy Shopping. There is no long-term commitment; help when you’re able.

Volunteer Information

Become a Grocery Buddy Volunteer

Not everyone can donate money — some of our biggest heroes are volunteers who deliver groceries, shop for food boxes, or help families pick up Walmart/Safeway orders. Every delivery means a family eats that night. Every volunteer makes a real difference.

There is no minimum time commitment. Help when you can — once a week, once a month, or whenever you’re available.

Ways Volunteers Can Help

You can choose one or more roles:

Deliver Groceries
Pick up a food box or a Walmart/Safeway order and drop it off at a family’s door. Fast, simple, and incredibly helpful.

Shop for Groceries
Use donated funds or gift cards to buy groceries for a family and deliver them.

Buddy Shopping (Optional)
Meet a recipient at Walmart or Safeway and shop alongside them in public. You help choose groceries and pay at checkout using donated funds or gift cards. This option is based on availability and comfort level.

Behind-the-Scenes Helpers
Even if you don’t want to drive or shop, we can always use help with communication, coordination, and administrative tasks.

You Can Volunteer If:

  • You have a car and want to help with delivery

  • You enjoy shopping and picking out groceries

  • You can make quick trips to Walmart/Safeway

  • You want to be part of something meaningful in your own community

Families include seniors, parents with children, individuals with disabilities, and people who simply need a little help while waiting for delayed SNAP benefits.

Safety and Simplicity

  • All deliveries and Buddy Shopping take place in public areas

  • Volunteers never have to enter homes or provide transportation unless they choose to

  • Personal information is protected — no one is required to share phone numbers or addresses

  • If a situation feels uncomfortable at any time, you may stop and notify us immediately

Our goal is to keep everyone safe, respected, and supported.

Your Impact

One delivery can feed a family for the week.
One pickup trip can take a huge burden off a struggling parent.
One volunteer changes someone’s entire week.

You don’t need money to help — just a little time and a caring heart.

Every $25–$100 helps feed a local household for one week. One donation keeps milk, bread, eggs, fruits, and essentials on a family’s table during the shutdown.

Neighbors helping neighbors — that’s Grocery Buddy.
